Award-winning independent journalist freelancing full-time since 1988. Credits include The Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, USA Today, Baltimore, Associated Press, New York Times Syndicate, All Things Considered, Harpers, Maryland, American Archaeology, and American Health among many others.
Although the bulk of my work is in science, medicine and health care, I also write news and features related to business, finance, law, lifestyles, travel, food, home & garden, and a wide variety of topics. Highlights include:
• Contributing editor for Editorial Eye (EEI Press, Alexandria, VA) since 2003. Editorial Eye is a well-regarded newsletter for editors, writers, and publication managers.
• Numerous science articles for children in ChemMatters and Reaction Times, published by the American Chemical Society, and Science World.
• From 1996 to 2000, I ghosted the monthly "Morning Rounds" column in EyeNet, the magazine of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, describing unusual eye conditions in a literate nonfiction format from the treating doctor's point of view.
• In 2002, Larry's Face, a web page created as a private joke to noodge my brother became an unexpected 'Net sensation. Hundreds of people around the world have helped me humiliate my brother by photoshopping his face.
